International attention has focused these days on Viti, Kosovo, where young people, diplomats, representatives of international organizations, academics and representatives of civil society from different countries of the world have come together in the name of a common cause, peace and a sustainable future. From August 25 to 29, Viti is welcoming the World Youth Summit for Peace and Sustainable Development, an international activity that aims to strengthen the voice and role of young people in peacebuilding and decision-making processes.
At the “Gursel and Bajram Sylejmani” House of Culture, representatives from different countries are exchanging ideas, experiences and messages of cooperation, turning Viti for several days into a space of international dialogue.
The Summit is organized with the aim of promoting peace, dialogue, diplomacy, youth leadership and sustainable development. During the development sessions of the Summit, which is organized in collaboration with the Institute of Public Policy and Diplomacy Research (IPPDR), Diplomatic Mission Peace and Prosperity (DMPP), International Diaspora Foundation (IDF), Landesverband Hamburg (SDW) and other international partners, representatives of various institutions, such as those of various Diplomatic Corps, International Organizations, numerous academics, as well as parts of Civil Society, have also participated.
Under the motto “All together for a world at peace”, the activity aimed to create a common platform for dialogue, cooperation and exchange of experiences between young people and representatives from different countries.
Precisely, on August 27, the Summit culminated with the main ceremony of this World Youth event. We would also like to highlight the participation of the former President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, who in her speech assessed the importance of this organization and the role of young people in building partnerships and promoting peace.
According to her, the mechanisms that produce peace are the fruit of partnerships between nations and these partnerships must be promoted and protected.
“Young people are promoters of processes and must be decision-making factors. Let us build partnerships and strengthen the alliance”, said Osmani, among other things.
In his welcoming speech, the Mayor of Viti Municipality, Sokol Haliti, welcomed the delegations and countries participating in the summit, emphasizing that Viti has been given a special honor to host this international organization this year.
He thanked all those who contributed to the organization of the World Youth Summit, while expressing gratitude to the leaders and contributors of this event.
Also speaking at today’s ceremony were Ambassador Dr. Andrise Bass, organizer of the 6th Youth Summit for Peace and a Sustainable Future, Shefki Hysa, leader of the Mission for Peace and Prosperity in Albania, and other representatives of participating organizations and institutions.
In his speech, Dr. Shefki Hysa focused on the message of peace and the role that Albania and Kosovo can play in conveying this message, addressing the young participants from different countries of the world.

“Albania and Kosovo are the House of God and of the Albanian, since the creation of Humanity. Albania and Kosovo are the House of God’s Peace!
Albania and Kosovo are also the House of God and of the Friend of the Albanian, that friend who brings Peace to this House, who implements Albanian traditions and who is available in every situation to respect and protect the Friendship that the Albanian offers. Such friends are you, young people from different countries of the World, who know how to love Peace, build Peace and protect Peace. Albania and Kosovo are also the House of Mother Teresa. We often say that Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Lutherking, Nelson Mandela and Mother Teresa are the four main leaders in the foundations of Modern World Social Peace, they are the fathers of this Peace, they are the Humanitarian Spirit of Diplomatic Mission Peace and Prosperity DMPP and of World Civil Society. You are today in the House of Mother Teresa, as the leaders of the Present and the Future. Future. You represent different languages ​​and different cultures, but in Albania and Kosovo you speak one Language, the Language of Peace. Maybe Albania and Kosovo seem small countries to you, but like the House of Mother Teresa, they mathematically represent, at least, two billion people, if the World is, as they say, eight billion people. The four World leaders together represent eight billion people, so two billion each. Two billion belong to Mother Teresa, so mathematically Albanians have the right to speak the language of Peace in their Home in Albania and in Kosovo and on behalf of the two billion people of the World. So today, you new leaders are in the House of the Albanian, in Albanian young and in Kosovo, a House with a small appearance, but with a great specific weight, the House of two billion people.”
Next, Hysa also praised the leading figures present at the Summit, highlighting the Mayor of Viti Municipality, Sokol Haliti, the former President of Kosovo, Dr. Vjosa Osmani, as well as Ambassador Dr. Andrise Bass, while he called on the young to take the example of leaders and become not only builders, but also defenders of peace.
“If you want a Model Leader, you have him here, among you: Sokol Haliti, Mayor of Viti Municipality, worthy successor of the Historical President of Kosovo, Dr. Ibrahim Rugova, the Gandhi of the Balkans. It is the Rugova leader Sokol Haliti who opened the door to the House of Peace, here in Viti. If you want another model Leader, you have the President of Kosovo, Dr. Vjosa Osmani. If you want another model Leader, you have Dr. Bass… Be like these leaders and be sure that you will be not only builders of Peace, but also its defenders, today and in the Future. The World Youth Summit will continue its work, with activities and discussions aimed at strengthening international cooperation, promoting peace and empowering the role of young people in social processes.
